Part III

Adjust

XYZNode and Xr/Yr/Zr - Set XYZ Node resolution together or individually - Slider = 0 to 8 then press "NodeRes"

XYZRES- Set XYZ Resolution together and press "NodeRes" slider = 0 to 4096 (not sure why this is different than the other controls)

"A" - press this button to turn all selected nodes into "Attractor Nodes"

"Memb" and "M" - set each selected Nodes Membrane attribute

Angle

Create Spirals, curves and other doodahs using this utility.

RDist - Radius Multiplier will move the node this many radiuses away. ex. Node has radius of .5 then with the RDist set to 2 then the node will be placed 1 unit away from its parent.

XYAngle - Direction in XY grid that the node will be placed RDist away.

ZAngle - Direction in Z grid that the node will be placed RDist away.

AngleIncr - a non-zero value here will increment the XYAngle slider everytime a node is placed. Ex. set to 10 and XYAngle at 0 the 1st Node will be placed RDist Up. Then XYAngle will be set to 10 degrees. The next node will be placed then at 10, and so forth. This feature allows you to control the curviness of the curve. Small number = gentle curve, a large number will make a steeper curve.

ZAngleIncr - See AngleIncr above but in Z grid.

Look at the above image to see how the angles work in XYZ space. Example setting ZAngle to 270 will bring the Node a maximum distance towards you the viewer. A setting of 90 will move it away from you. Values inbetween will lessen the slope. Using a ZAngleIncr will vary that as it passes thru each quantrant.

Peek - Set the XYAngle and ZAngle sliders to the currently selected node's relationships to its parent. Useful to continue on with a curve that has already been started.

Angle-New - Select one or more spheres (use Shift s) on your model, set your values and it will create a new node. Continue this, changing perhaps different settings to make your growing dooday turn and twist.

Angle-Old - Select one or more spheres (use Shift s) on your model. Pressing this will apply your Angle Settings to your existing nodes.

Example.

  1. Select one or more modes on your model and use the Angle-New to create 10 new nodes in the 180 direction with no Incr.
  2. This will make one or more straight lines of 10 nodes
  3. Keeping the same nodes selected use the "Back" button or "b" key to move back to your first node(s)
  4. Set you Angle settings and Press Angle-Old to modify these existing nodes with your curves and such

Angle-Node- Select one or more spheres (use Shift s) on your model. Pressing this will rotate the selected Nodes around its parent at its current Distance. Similiar when you use the mouse to rotate a node but with great precision.

TIP

After using Angle to create your curves etc... go back and use "TAPER" on each node to make arms, tenticles, etc...
