The Aphrodite Song |
|
(sung to a Reggae Beat) The sea is full of dolphin One get on Floyd's hook He hoist a big one on de deck we all get a good look
Suzy, she takes a bath on deck she scrubs happily de mexico liner verrs off course the better for to see and to crane his neck
The Captain he gets hungry he fries up eggs and toast The starving crew they all agree its better than Pot Roast
George and Stewart grin & wink And chuckle what de heck! Grab a gril come floating by And flip her back on de deck
When the winds and seas they slack off in the weather we can enjoy after bathing on the aft deck with a bottle of lemon joy
See how good she points the wind such a very good girl even in the heaviest weather even more sail we can unfurl
Dr Bill the weatherman said I will help you to Belize if I can so he ordered up a NE wind to help us to the other end Dr Bill the prophet true we are so grateful we the crew
The captain he got a dead eye his aim is sure and fine he comes up with the flotsom and it always land on de Rat line
Who is that crackin de bad jokes its the mad helmsman Floyd He got one sock on and one sock off thats the clothing he enjoy
Then we got our boy George who sure does like his snuff likes to frig with the riggin seem like he can't get enough
Then we have Doreen From the Fairhope shore when she wants to test the water she just falls overboard
The master of de sail trim is the balanced George goes aloft with his can of coke with cookies he would gorge
Suzy de cooker she cook a pot of peas always had a hot meal even in following seas
(chorus) Sail away Sail away we come from Fairhope to Belize On de port tack all the way thru the Yucatan Straight
when everyone else is sleepin we raise a light from below its the captain madly searchin for the phantom noise in the hold
if disco troop is on the helm and the captain comes on deck the likelihood is very strong he gets a breaker down the neck
End of May we left the bay the winds they were great away we go and before we know we made the Yucatan Straight
Suzy is the navigator she likes that high tech she prays over the Sat Nav and she plots our next trek
Doreen is a wild one as she eyes that bow sprit she gets on it rides it high to the amazment of those on deck
The Aphrodite is our boat She is one fine ship She hits that heavy weather and the lee rail she will dip
Big tankers on the water they get very close they take no guff when they strut thier stuff and they toot their little horn
